This is a great hydroponic grow kit for a beginner, those short on space, or for kitchen herb/veggie growing. This is a budget-friendly growing system, so I’ve taken that into consideration with my review as it does not have some of the fancy features of a more expensive kit. But it is accessible to more people, so that’s a big plus.Functionality: The grow deck contains 12 holes for you to grow a variety of plants or a dozen of one thing. The maximum height of the light bar is 12.4.” Take note of the size limitation when choosing your plants if you’re planning to keep them in the grow lab and not transplanting since some things get very large, like peppers or dill. The seed pods extend into the water reservoir to keep them moist. There is a small internal pump in the reservoir which comes on automatically and is rather quiet. The light bar is fixed with a bright LED grow light and you can set this to turn on/off automatically in 12/14/16 hour intervals. This kit functions as it was designed to.Set up is easy, just follow the written instructions. A few things to note - fill the nutrient bottles with water and put both caps back on so you can shake it up in advance to allow the crystals to dissolve. Also, it would be a good idea to fill the water reservoir first before plugging it in to ensure no spillage occurs. Safety first.The growth rate is fast with this system as it does a good job keeping the seedlings moist. Plants do grow at different rates, however. When ready for a new grow season, you can reuse the small clear dome seedling covers, but you will need to get new grow sponges or some coco coir. The whole system will need to be cleaned and descaled as well.Overall, this is a really great indoor grow system for hobby growers, beginners at hydroponic growing, plant fanatics squeezing in more plants, fresh food growers, for teaching kids the science of plant growth, and would make a very thoughtful gift. This system is compact, user-friendly, and balances affordability with functionality, but is limited by its smaller size.
