Help for the lazy housekeeper
I hate housework. Hate it. And the kind of regular nagging things like vacuuming and mopping are just the worst. (Well, no. Dusting is the worst. I'm holding out for a fairy drone that does that.) I've never had a robot vacuum before although I've seen them in action at my brother's house, so I had some idea of what to expect. We don't have kids, but do have a dog and a tendency to drop things in the kitchen while chopping so there's plenty of need for regular floor cleaning. We have a relatively small one-floor condo.Setup was super easy. Only one piece to put together (although a lot of protective plastic to remove) and the quick setup guide was clear and easy to follow. They obviously got some actual English speakers to put together the documentation. QR codes made the technical parts of connecting to the wifi super easy. The unit was really well packed with nice almost cloth bags covering things. It looks really nice and sleek and doesn't take up as much space as I had feared. The vacuum unit had some trouble finding the station even when I put it right in there. Wandered all over the house. I had to turn the station on and off a few times before they were able to connect and get going.Mapping - it managed to figure out most of the place pretty quickly. I'm giving it a little time before I get serious about trying to edit the map to create more sections and zones. For the most part, it's got it figured out in a way that makes sense and is mostly based on the different floor types it found. I've had no trouble marking off a little zone of the mapped area to have it spot clean.Vacuuming - Did a pretty good job of this the first time through, although I did find a few places it failed to pick up a crumb or two. It gathered a lot of hair that first run with no tangles or issues with the roller. I thought I had picked up everything well before it started the first vacuum, but I failed on two counts, so had to rescue the robot. It returned to self-empty a couple of times the first time using the vacuum, which surprised me given how small our place is. Yes - that is probably a condemnation of my regular housekeeping skills.Mopping - Haven't tried this yet, but given the quality of the vacuum so far, I'm looking forward to trying this out.Noise - Not as loud as I would have thought, although you don't miss that it's running. And it talks! Which is how I know when something went wrong, although I did get notifications on my phone, which then sent them to my watch. It would be nice to selectively turn off certain types of notifications. I don't need it to tell me every time that the noise from emptying the dust bin would be loud and that the noise is normal.Light - the instructions say to make sure there's enough light for it to see as it's mapping and vacuuming but it has its own light. It's a pretty bright one too. It didn't seem to have any trouble with darker areas.App:Super easy to start a vacuum run, pause it, find the notifications when there's a problem. However, way too much in it that is unrelated to running the Deebot. Stuff about your account and points, the store, their blog. All I want to do is run my vacuum! Can choose specific areas to clean on the map, set up zones for future cleaning. There's a separate section for the robot and the station. For the station, you can set things like the dust collection power, wash method, etc. For the robot, Can choose to vacuum only, vacuum and mop, or vacuum everything then mop. You can set the suction power, water flow rate - all kinds of things to give you a custom clean. Probably way more than I need to have given the size of our tiny place. I do wish it would remember the settings for your last run, though. I would rather it defaulted to just vacuuming than vacuum and mop.Final Say:It would be hard for me to not be happy with having this little robot. I absolutely hate dealing with mopping and vacuuming is also a pain. I know - I'm a lazy housekeeper. Part of it used to be I had to lug things up and down three flights. But now I have just the one floor so it shouldn't be that big of a deal. But I know myself and how much I really hate doing any kind of housework. Sigh. So this little guy is a great find. I'm looking forward to setting it up to do things on a schedule so I don't have to think about it and giving me two fewer chores to deal with.

Great Robot Vacuum Cleaner for the family that doesn't have time for housework
The media could not be loaded. I am a working mom of four and have no time for housework. Not only do I not have time for it, I actually hate doing it as well. Sweeping, vacuuming and mopping fall at the top of the hate list. So, you can imagine my utter delight when I found the Deebot X9. I will admit, I was skeptical at first. I have used other robot vacuum cleaners with a range of success and failure. I had not ever used a robot mopping system. With four kids and two dogs, you can imagine the amount of daily sweeping, vacuuming and mopping that is needed. So, even though I was skeptical, I decided to give it a try and I am so thankful I did.We have a two story home, so I setup the Deebot in my downstairs, where the most day to day traffic occurs. Setup was super simple. The hardest part was removing all the protective packaging. The app was very easy to install and the instructions were easy to follow. It was nice to have clear, concise instructions. The overall footprint of the Deebot is similar to other robot vacuums, I find it fairly sleek and does not take up much room.Once I got the vacuum plugged in set, it kicked off the mapping process immediately. This was pretty seamless, the hardest part for me, was finding the power on button on the base unit (heads up - it is on the back of the machine and must be on for the Deebot to get set properly. The mapping process was amazing. I was shocked at how easily it identified the different floor types and the layout of the house. Using the app to block of certain areas and name areas was a breeze. I was able to set up the schedule that I wanted to follow as well. The initial vacuuming session went great. You could visibly see where the vacuum had been. It did a thorough job and because we had done a good job of picking everything up, it did not get stuck. It was able to find the base unit easily to go back and empty itself and recharge as needed. The overall initial cleaning took less time, then my existing robot vacuum cleaner would typically take. I continue to be impressed with the vacuuming and certainly appreciate not having to take my time to do this everyday. The mopping function has also been nice. I am very impressed with the lack of water/cleaning residue left over after it does the mopping. The Deebot does a great job of recognizing which floors to mop versus not mop. I like the proprietary cleaner as well. It is a bit expensive, but the convenience is very nice.I find the Deebot to be quieter than the other robot vacuum cleaners I have. My dogs and kids appreciate this. It does talk to you, which is pretty humorous. It actually thanked my daughter when she placed it back on the base unit after getting stuck on a left out cord and told her "Thank you for saving my life". We all got a kick out of that. One feature that my others don't have is the light. I actually like that is has an incorporated light in the vacuum itself. It comes on when it goes under tables and couches.I found the app extremely easy to use and set up. I like being able to set up a schedule, identify zones for cleaning and the types of cleaning you want. I like being able to set the suction power, choose whether or not to vacuum only, vacuum and mop or vacuum everything and then mop. There are many options to fit your specific needs or desires. You do have to spend some time understanding all of the options, so you know what will work best for you, but it is easy to understand and walk through. I also like all of the notifications I receive, even when I am traveling or at work. It makes it nice to know what is going on at home with our daily cleaning. My final assessment is that I will be retiring my previous robot vacuums and purely relying on the Deebot. I have been extremely impressed with it so far and look forward to many future days of coming home from work to clean floors.
