Great content, But I ended up going to the prufrock press page to buy it in electronic format after a few lessons - it’s just easier to print the pages as worksheets than it is to need to photocopy every time.

Highly recommend in teaching structure in how to think through different writing structures. My son who is not even ahead in his class benefitted a lot by just going through the well laid out material.

I love this supplemental reading guide. It is great for helping children Learn how to identify consequences and implications, causes and effects, certain sequencing within poetry as well as short stories,and how to summarize & how to paraphrase. This is a great tool to help children expand and perfect their skills in critical thinking and creative writing. This is also a great tool for moms who are homeschooling their children as it includes record keeping forms in the back of the text.

Well-written program to increase reading comprehension skills. Textbook is broken down into 3 sections: short stories, poetry, and nonfiction. Each reading activity has a variety of questions to complete that will get the student thinking. The ladder of "Jacob's Ladder" consists of 4 objectives which are: A - Consequences/Implications, B - Generalizations, C - Main Idea, and D - Creative Synthesis. Using these prompts, students learn to explain text and restate in their own words. This goes beyond memorization and gets the student thinking and remembering text. Recommend!

I received this book as part of a reviewer program. William & Mary are known for producing excellent curriculum, and this edition of Jacob’s Ladder lived up to the institution’s reputation. The assignments were challenging but presented in a way that the level designed for (level 3) would find engaging. The book is clearly formatted and with a style appealing to younger audiences without feeling juvenile.
