Q: Why won’t my tap handles go back to original position?

The tap handles are mounted on splines so you have some leeway in their alignment though only notch by notch . Otherwise it will depend on just how the new valve sits after being tightened. You could try tightening or loosening the valve a fraction if this is a concern but I don't think there is any other solution..

Q: Will this cartridge fit a FRanke Wave mixer?

Wish I could give you a definitive answer, but I originally bought some similar ones' from Toolstation only to realise when I disassembled the tap that there are a lot of variations. These work with my particular tap and its not a Franke, but after taking out one of the cartridges I was able to measure the cartridge and then order this set (they work perfectly). They are matched and marked for hot/ cold so you do need to put them in on the right sides. I would advise physically checking before you order anything.
