Quite a good book that tells about the inventions by humans and human society in a chronological order. Although I bought a used book but it came out quite perfect. Recommended.

Book is to mainly to be used for reference and is not supposed to be read in one go.Three inventions are mentioned per a page.The description of the invention is not elaborate. The book only gives the details of the inventor the year and any historic anecdotes.A schematic diagram for working of some of the inventions is desperately lacking mainly for inventions no longer in use.It is great the there were many different locks invented for anti-theft. Giving a mere description of the mechanism without a diagram is not going to help me understand why it an improvement over the already existing one.Invention of flying shuttle is also mentioned with out detailing the working of hand-looms of the previous era.It is difficult to grasp the big improvement that it actually was.I had to pause reading the book and look up the inventions mentioned and their workingThe American bias in the book is a bit disappointing. No Mr.Author the invention of the zero and the decimal system is not as important as the invention of Franklin stove by Benjamin Franklin nor is the invention of Bi-focal lens (by combing already existing lens for myopia and hyperopia) by him deserves a mention in the book that includes the invention of vaccine and penicillin.They belong in a trivia book on inventions by American presidents or something.
