I bought this for Two reasons. One my old ones update cards expired and it didn’t preform well on TPMS AND THE other was a needed a good TPMS tool to go along with this scan tool. The scan tool wasn’t too bad for what it claims to do now if you plan on doing a truck with the TPMS tool it won’t work. It says they cover 99% of vehicles what they actually mean is they cover 99% of cars not small pickup of full size pickups nothing of that nature at all. And if you want tech support for this model you HAVE to email them as they are over seas somewhere. And all the tests I tried to preform on the scanner didn’t do what they said. I’ll play with it more and see if any more don’t work

Launch is a well known and highly regarded name in the scan tool industry. Many professional mechanics use Launch scan tools. The LAUNCH X431 PRO Star is a feature rich scan tool. It has an 8" display with1280x800 screen resolution. It is a full featured tablet running Android 10. It has an 8.0 MP rear facing camera. It has WiFi capability (2.4 and 5.0 GHz), 5 gigs of RAM and 64GB of storage and an internal battery with 6300mAh capacity. It is solidly built and just feels like a quality piece in the hand. I recommend fully charging it prior to first use. After booting it up the first time, select your preferred language and time zone. Next, connect it to your WiFi system. You will be asked to enter your email address and accept the terms and conditions of use. Next you will be prompted to update the tool...do that. The initial update will likely take some time. Connect the cable to your scan tool and then to OBDII port. Turn the vehicle to ON, but don't start it. You can either let it auto VIN detect or enter the information for your vehicle. After you confirm it's correctly identified the car, it will generate a health report. You can also start a full system scan or select individual systems, if desired. In addition to reading and clearing codes, you can run live data. It stores a large number of trouble code explanations to assist you in your diagnostic work. It also has 37+ services functions depending on your vehicle's specifics. It can store or send reports. It is bi-directional and offers ECU coding. One cool function of this scan tool is the "Mall" function. You can "visit" it and purchase additional functionality for your scan tool. There are several accessories available for purchase to greatly expand its capabilities. The menu system of this scan tool is quite intuitive and easy to navigate. It has a lot of functionality with more available in the Mall. Two years of free updates. Two year warranty. This is a well designed, feature rich scan tool. Highly recommended.

This is a super complete Diagnostic and OBD2 scanner aimed mostly to professional shops or those really serious garage mechanics indeed. I just tested and used a couple of times to check my cars systems, to read and clear stored codes and to reset oil service, but this tool can perform way more type of diagnosis, stream/collect data, read/clear codes, and manage ECU information than my old and super simple OBD2 scanner that I was using until now. Starting with its big 8” screen is easy to read and operate, the diagnostic tool looks -and feels- sturdy and well made, and seems designed to handle those harsh environments where will be used. Also, has fully touch-screen capabilities so no buttons to navigate/guide menus, and has sturdy harness and connectors all packed in a professional hardcase box for protection and storage when not in use. Keep in mind that after opening the box, the tool will require to be connected to internet (WiFi), proceed to register an account (using the serial #) to manufacturer’s website, in order to download and update software to improve tool functionality. The array of diagnostic and maintenance features, as well as all those functions that can be performed with this Scan/code tool is impressive, -and well beyond my current knowledge, at least for some of my car systems that can be activated/deactivated at will with this tool. From fault diagnostics (code reading and cleaning), data registering and trending, ECU flash/match/calibration, Match current settings, Reprogram/learn/change cars settings, activate/deactivate systems, sensors and devices, among those 37+ advanced functions included. I guess that a lot of features can be performed with this tool without the need to visit the dealer for reprogramming, as it works and is compatible for almost all automotive brands. The quantity of functions that can be performed with this tool is astounding, making it versatile and powerful. Tool’s functionality can be extended even further with several optional ‘expansion’ devices (as videoscope, oscilloscope, battery tester, sensor box, calibration tool, etc.) that can be adapted to this tool to increase its versatility and functionality. Is important to note that necessary software updates must be performed in the tool to keep up with current car’s technology changes. As such, it also includes a 2-year free software update for new features and system diagnostics as well as 2-year warranty over the equipment. Overall, this is a well though, professional lever quality tool, that comes with a fair price for what this tool can perform and its complete set of capabilities for diagnostics, testing, settings, coding and reprogramming among others. If you’re a serious DIY mechanic, a professional auto technician, or owns a car repair/diagnose shop, this tool certainly is a must to have in your toolbox as it can help to improve your professional diagnostics task, and save time. I’m very happy with this tool, as I can now troubleshoot a lot of systems that I couldn’t access before. With a few more uses, it will more than pay for itself. Highly recommended. I've been using this diagnostic tool for a while now, and it’s hands down the best I’ve ever owned. The 8-inch touch screen running on Android 10.0 is incredibly smooth and easy to navigate. The fast 2.0GHz 4-Core processor, coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM, makes everything run effortlessly, even with heavy diagnostic tasks. What I love most is the bi-directional control feature. It’s allowed me to perform active tests on various car subsystems, like turning the cooling fan on and off and energizing injectors, which saves me so much time and helps quickly pinpoint issues. The 37+ advanced maintenance services, like Oil Reset and ABS Bleeding, have been invaluable. I recently used the EPB Reset and DPF Regeneration functions, and they worked flawlessly. The ECU coding feature is a standout. I was able to reprogram a newly installed ECU module without any hassle and even activated higher-level car functions that weren’t available before. The step-by-step guided functions for Volkswagen group vehicles were a lifesaver, making the whole process straightforward. The 6000mAh battery lasts through long diagnostic sessions, which is perfect for my busy days. I had a video for this Launch but I guess it was too long and too complicated for "a review". It looked more like a training video I guess. But that was the point. This Scanner is WORTH getting a head start learning what it can do and how to do it. For me, this $650 scanner will replace my $2,000+ Autel, which I had been getting charged $1295 a year to keep updated! WHY? Well, not any more. This Launch will take it's place as I don't need the one thing this thing does not do. It's a scanner and helps me diagnose the car. I don't need to run a shop from the thing. TWO BIG THUMBS WAY UP for this awesome bit of great diagnostic technology!
