The Treasures of Venice: Pop-Up

Another one for the pop up book collection.

Did not expect advance pop-up engineering, but could not be amazed of simple, yet beautiful work.It’s an art work of simplicity and elegance.

I reviewed this book for my blog and posted a review of it today on Sharon's Love of Books. I have to say I was disappointed in this book because I waited patiently for my preorder and then was so let down by the quality of the book. The cover is beautiful, but misleading as to the quality of the pop-ups. It is difficult to view because you can't open the book and lay it flat to view it--you MUST hold the book to view it, and that makes it difficult to read the pull-up-tabs of information. The two other reviewers were correct that the paper engineering was substandard. Moreover, while info. on the buildings was interesting, it was woefully inadequate. It just left me wanting more. Additionally, of the six Venetian landmarks, the Bridge of Sighs was not included--just disappointing. On my blog, I did rate it 2 1/2 stars (because, here, I can't give 1/2 stars). I did so because the cover was beautiful, the finish of the cover wonderful, and the use of color throughout the book was lovely. Those are really the only good things I have to say about the book. Cute book, well done. It is smaller than I thought it would be , compared to several others I have, but that is ok. Came promptly & I am pleased overall.

The book was beautiful, but the paper engineering was simple - nothing intricate or exciting. I expected a little more for the price.

A very disappointing debut, considering the "hype" while waiting for the book to come out. Nothing more than a glorified "flap" book with what look like magazine glossies for pictures of the Venice sites; considering what's being done in pop ups these days, and with what you can buy for what I spent on a new copy, I would advise those considering buying this book to consider something else; the term "pedestrian" downplays the ordinariness of what is contained therein.

We gave this book to our 10-year-old grandson before taking him to Venice, and I'm pretty sure he enjoyed it. He's a "man of a few words"! At his age, I'd have loved to have such a wonderful book!

Nice pop-up for collection.

Beautiful book, great gift for any lover of Venice.

Keep those pop-up books coming. I loved the Florentine version, too! What's next? Athens? Rome?

Also das ist ja wirklich eine Frechheit.Es handelt sich um simpelste Pop-ups der bekanntesten Bauwerke Venedigs. Allerdings sind sie so grottenschlecht gezeichnet, dass man sie kaum erkennt.Ein Straßenhändler hätte das Buch vielleicht 1970 für 5000 Lire als Souvenir verscherbeln können, aber der Euro-Preis für so extrem wenig Inhalt ist unverschämt."Star Wars - a galactic pop-up adventure" kostet nur 2 Euro mehr und bietet WESENTLICH bessere Pop ups!Ich ärgere mich sehr, das Buch hätte ein Geschenk für meinen Vater sein sollen. Hoffentlich kann ich es zurückschicken, obwohl ich natürlich die Plastikhülle entfernen musste, um das Buch anzusehen.

The treasures of Venice plunges you into this city of romantic and Renaissance.Unfortunately many places in the city are overloaded with gigantic advertisments and are covered or deformed.Here in this pop-up book one finds a peacfull Venice to dream.

Very fast, great deal, item much better than the picture, highly recommended hope to deal with you again in the future AAA++
