Research your BIOS before purchasing
I installed Windows 8 and needed a card to support it, as well as the max speeds of my router. Unfortunately I did not know companies put "whitelists" in their BIOS, which make it very difficult to install unapproved cards. After 2 days of researching and learning to crack my BIOS, I finally managed to install the card. It works perfectly and I'm getting much faster speeds with lower latency.

Works well once I got past the BIOS problem
Even though this is on the list of adapters that will work with my Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E520, the BIOS rejected it. I think it's because the adapter's ID is different for the Lenovo-approved version (which is much more expensive). I used the guide at ThinkWiki to help get past the problem. I ended up searching the web for my laptop's bios with the whitelist removed, and found one that seemed trustworthy. I flashed the BIOS, and it worked. The adapter itself works great.

Great wifi card
I ordered this wifi card for my Dell Studio XPS 1645 laptop. I upgraded to Windows 8, so the wifi card stopped working as there is no support for the existing Intel Centrino 5300 wifi card. The 6250 is a newer card that IS supported for Windows 8, as well as for the laptop I mentioned. I ordered it and was able to install it very quickly. So far I have been using it for a few weeks. In any case, I give this card a thumbs up. The necessary drivers for Windows 8 were on the intel website and after installing them my wifi was up and working again. I got a much larger range out of this card than my old one. Internet speed is also great, but I guess that depends on your internet setup/provider. I have no use for it, but the available WiMax feature works and could come in handy to anyone who has providers in their area for this service. Also, if you can't tell from the picture, note that this is in fact a half-mini-card.Lastly, for a price like this, you can't go wrong with this card.

not as expected
bought this to upgrade from 6150, only to find it is blocked in the firmware. I then read it has some problems over all. so now it's just sitting in my desk.

Does not work on Lenovo Y570 with 2.09 BIOS
I'll rate this 4 stars for service, price and convenience. The card not working in my laptop is not this vendors fault.Even though this card is listed in the hardware manual for the Lenovo Y570, it fails during BIOS check, as it is not on the white-list. Why Lenovo would list a card in the hardware manual that it does not support is annoying to say the least. Accuracy of the manuals and support sure have gone downhill since IBM sold off to Lenovo. Maybe I'll try a Dell next and pay less for wrong-support-docsSo a Y570 with BIOS 2.09 (BIOS Version/Date LENOVO 47CN31WW(V2.09), 10/28/2011) will NOT boot if you install this card.Just an FYI if you are wondering.

Buy from a-plus-tech, not the others.
Needed a new WiFi card for my Lenovo (Z560) to replace the crappy card it came with. I travel allot with my job and the stock card would drop connections and time out quite often, also, on my home network my phone would receive better signal than my laptop, which is just backwards to me. so I ordered this and what do you know, no more dropped connections or time outs. I can also do 300mbps on my home network now and not the 150 of the old card. On my home network, in my bed room I would get a -60dB amplitude, which would vary allot, some times as bad as a -67dB, and this was less than 25 feet from the access point. Installed the 6250 and now get a stable -52dB, I find this to be a great improvement as the antenna are still the same and nothing else was changed, just the card, so it's working with the same receiving hardware as the atheros card and yet performs that much better. Another improvement of note is when I would first boot my laptop, it could take up to 5-8mins before the wifi card would even see or connect to anything, with the 6250, as soon as I log on, its found and connected to my home network. Also, buy from a-plus-tech, if you look at the other sellers on here, they are selling cards from Broadcom, NOT Intel, a few of the sellers even list this in the overview, others will not say or don't know, if what they are selling is a ES card etc. a-plus-tech is the only place I got a straight forward (and fast) answer that the cards they sell are retail (not ES) Intel cards, and not from Broadcom.
