This book covers almost everything you could ask for, and for me the biggest plus point was that it wasn't as rigid as Save The Cat. The three act structure is defined very clearly, other concepts relating to character development are also really well written. The writing here is logical and up-to-date, and breaks the concepts down to really tiny bits for everyone and anyone to consume ;) Overall, this is a great book for a beginner who is thinking of getting into screenwriting.

This book is comprehensive and builds your skills in screenplay. One can opt to buy this book. Classic book to learn screenplay elements and everything about screenplay before you proceed to write a screenplay. Definitely value for money. I got the paperback one. It is nice.

I'll say this is the starter of screenplay writing. First book that you should read. Terms here are explained really well with great examples from movies. It provides directions for writing screenplay. gives you the vision as to where to look for ideas. Once you've read this you can advance to Anatomy of a story, Story - Robert Mckee, art of dramatic writing and other great books. It focuses on Three act structure but you should read 8 steps circle too. Book's binding is a bit tender so keep a watch. please click helpful only if my review actually helps you.

There are lots of screenwriting books out there but this is the book from where you can start your screenwriting journey. I read it probably ten years back but again I have bought it and recently read again. If you are a novice writer you should start from this book and even If you are seasoned one you can back to this one again and again.

Still, I am reading this book. But so far, this is the best book to understand what is screenplay and how to form ideas. Very apt to its title. A must have for those who want to be a screenplay writer.
