These things are just brilliant. I have 4 around the house as I have an old house with thick stone walls and BT's homehub simply didn't cut the mustard. Be aware you do need an Ethernet cable to these from your router, but I now have great WiFi coverage all around the house. I use PoE injectors to avoid a power cable to them.Update April 2017. We now have an Au-Pair, and I didn't want her using her laptop on my standard WiFi network. Who knows what sort of viruses and malware she could have on her PC which could potentially infect my PC's etc. so I configured these to provide 2 SSID's - a guest network and my own one on different VLAN's. The Au-Pair (and anyone else that comes around) uses the guest network and that only has access to the Internet and nothing else. It also means my chums can't grab the wireless key and mess with my Sonos and other stuff like that which they used to find funny.I did need a £100 Cisco firewall (I used an RV320 (possibly not a real Cisco as the CLI is very very limited)) but that gives me an added level of protection inside the BT homehub but it all works a treat. You'll need to be a little familiar with IP networks to configure this. Also FYI - I found out on a support call to BT that they can access your homehub and see stuff even if you have changed the admin password. They could even see which devices were transmitting / receiving but once the RV320 was in place, all they could see was that and not details of what was coming through it. It does make you ask yourself what other access they could have if they could get through your router. A colleague of mine had a similar experience with Virgin Media so I don't think it's limited to BT.

solved the problem of mac and mobile phone users not being able to access the Netgear wifi
I have a Netgear Router and Extender in the how and so can pick up a wireless signal most places and connect happily with my laptop. Not so for mac users and mobile devices. For whatever reason mobile phones and mac's appear to struggle with the Netgears, hence installing the Cisco and problem solved.Works so well in fact that I went on to purchase four more and have installed one on each floor of the office - wireless access for all Cisco WAP121-E-K9-G5 Small Business Wireless-N Access Point with Power over EthernetCisco WAP121-E-K9-G5 Small Business Wireless-N Access Point with Power over Ethernet

Ideal for home use, despite small business branding
I've used one of these at home for 8 months now, and it hasn't missed a beat. Although it is aimed at small businesses, I was sick of the poor quality of wireless access points aimed at the residential user so went for a low end business unit and the difference is significant - especially in terms of how reliable it is.Has a huge number of settings, most of which I haven't explored as they wouldn't be of use to me, it is easy enough to get set up for simple home use anyway as you don't need to look at most settings. After 8 months of flawless performance I've bought a second unit to improve coverage, and the single point setup works brilliantly.

Although at the small office end of the market and priced accordingly, it's a very useful piece of equipment and the ability to set up to 4 virtual networks with their own SSIDs is handy for giving visitors temporary access or (for example) if you want to make changes to your network gradually e.g. moving to a different SSID. The 'Rogue AP Detection" feature gives a list of networks in range and can be useful if you want to choose a clear channel manually rather than letting the WAP decide.

I have 3, unfortunately doesn't support seamless roaming, and doesn't offer anything enterprise level other than the name, think that the unifi may have been a better choice however this has been solid at providing wifi although with limited features
