Doing Neurofeedback: An Introduction

This isn't a dry read
The subject Neurofeedback is a interesting but very complicated subject. This book made it interesting and enjoyable to read. I have been reding a lot of books since we have added this to our practice and I want to learn all I can. This is a very good book with lots of information that I can understand. Thank you. Great info for clinicians
Great book for practicing neurofeedback clinicians. I give it to my new technicians to read and get acquainted with the field but also reference when working.

doing neurofeedback
It's hard to find good introductory material on neurofeedback. There's a lot of good stuff in this introductory work on the practice of neurofeedback. Unfortunately, it is not presented in a way that makes it easy for the lay novice trying to get started. The text is in serious need of editing and proofreading. The authors have a tendency to use jargon and technical terms without properly introducing them, and at times it is just poorly written. It shares a lot of these flaws with the Thompsons' Neurofeedback Book which is also very difficult reading for the novice. Probably the best of the introductory books on neurofeedback that I have read is Demos' Getting Started in Neurofeedback. On the other hand, the chapter on protocols presents some interesting comparisons of different approaches to neurofeedback that probably can not be found elsewhere. There are similar nuggets of insight to be found scattered throughout the book but you will have to dig a bit to find them.

Fantastic starters guide!
I agree with some previous reviews suggesting the order of the text is not quite linear. It should definitely introduce the topic and very quickly get into explaining the technology thoroughly, which would assist the novice with very electrical knowledge and psychological underpinnings. Fortunately for me, I understand electrical theory and I'm trained as a psychologist, so I never felt left behind. In the authors defence, the book does cover these topic, just a little later than he should have. Otherwise, this book is the best general and unbiased explanation of the topic and it is a recommended text on the ISNR website. Therefore, it is highly recommended by experts in the field!!

Easy to read, yet has opinion mixed in with the facts.
Great book for those interested. Extremely engaging and easy to read. However, there are very few citations and some of the things put forth as 'fact' have been called into question by more recent research. There are quite a few typos for a professionally published book!

Written by a master of Neurofeedback.
The neuroanatomy was excellent as a refresher to relearn the "old stuff" in a new, practical, and fascinating approach. It is practical, spiced with pearls from a practitioner, and interesting. Well done!

Doing cosa?
