Fantastic (professional) work boots
I like boots. I wanted some that would look great at a professional office, that were comfortable, and that would ideally last a very long time. They exceeded my expectations on all levels.I read several reviews, all of which said that the boots run large. This is true. I actually went into a Red Wing store to confirm. I usually wear a size 12, but in these boots 10.5d was the perfect fit for me. Definitely buy small. When they arrived, I was smitten with the look. They are absolutely gorgeous. The stitching, leather cut, and tool work are all top notch and fantastic. The sole protrudes slightly from the boot itself and it looks great. The leather is chapparal, meaning that it has a shine to it. The shine will fade and the leather will scuff a bit, but if you clean them off with a horse hair brush, rub a little boot cream (Red Wing Netural is what I use) into them and give them a quick shine they look BRAND NEW each time. Shiny and sharp.A quick warning. There is a bit of a break in period. The leather is high quality and firm when you first get it. That includes the leather insole itself. The first week I wore them was a bit painful. I toughed it out and I can tell you that these are now my most comfortable pair of boots - almost as though they're custom fit for me.These boots come with a lot of bonuses that you may not know about. When you buy Red Wings you're getting a great warranty with them - even if you get them on Amazon. You can take them into your local store and they will clean/polish them anytime you want for free. Also, if you have issues with any of the stitching at ANY time (even years after you've purchased them), they'll have them restitched for free. Need new laces? Head in. They'll give you those for free too. Finally, when the sole wears out, they replace the sole for a nominal fee (I think it was 50-60 bucks). In other words, the boots are pricey, but they're an investment. With proper care there is no reason that these can't be your professional work place boots for the next 15 years. As a bonus, they look great with jeans too.

Dress up or dress down these brogues fit the all purpose bill.
Size down by 1/2.These took a week to break in. Since they did break in, they have become my go to shoes for just about every occassion. With a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, or even slacks and a blazer - these work well. I opted not to use inserts as I found them comfortable just as they are. The hybrid nitrile cork soles make these boots light, springy and much more versatile as an everyday shoe compared to the Wolverine 1000 that to me are slighty superior (due to the horween leather) but are much heavier on the feet. Here are a couple of top tips to expedite the softening process and keep them looking great.1. I used 3 coats of neets foot oil on everything besides the wing tip cap over the week. Use a hair dryer to get the neets foot oil to really permeate throughout the leather. Pecards leather dressing I have found works best at loosening tough leather, I just did not have any at the time. Neets foot oil or mink oil works - it just takes an extra coat or two.2. For a smarter look I used neutral wax on the wing tip cap. Do not use neets foot or mink oil on the cap if you expect to wax and buff to a shine. The layer of neets foot or mink oil will prevent a glossy shine and leave your tip with a flat matte look.3. Wear them as much as possible laced up as you would wear them out in town. Simply lounging around won't do much, you need the weight of your body to impact the shoe.4. Use neutral wax as opposed to brown wax to buff. The boots are trimmed in white thread that is easily colored with a sloppy buff. If you do get the threads colored use a q-tip and alcohol to get rid of the stains.5. Use cedar shoe trees to keep the insoles fresh and to minimize unwanted creasing6. Be patient. The leather is sturdy and not at all supple straight out of the box. You'll find the leather uppers and leather insole will conform to the shape of your foot giving you solid heel and ankle support. These are a tremendous value for a hand crafted, welted sole shoe. The neets foot oil and wax will water proof and condition your leather, just make sure to coat every couple of months!

Long time coming.
These boots run large I wear a 9 in running shoes becasue you should wear running shoes a half a size large. I wear a 8 1/2 in qaulity shoes and 9's in others. I had to wear a 8 in the Red Wing 8 last. These are stiff as hell right now but I hear after 3 months they are awesome. I chose them over the 1000 mile because they were more sturdy feeling and I think I was getting factory seconds each time I ordered them from Jump N Style on Amazon. These are authenic for sure, I definatley want to buy 1000 miles in the future b/c they look so nice. I am really happy with these even though they hurt like hell right now.

Width not true to size
The fit and finish construction of these boots is superb. However, the boot is only offered in "D" width...which is closer to a "B". Don't think that you're going to put these boots on and go out walking in them all day right out of the box! The leather is very stiff, and my guess is that it will take 4-6 months of wearing these boots to get them broken in. I have similar boots by Dr. Martens, Loake, and Trickers that took less time to break in than I believe these would. Also, if you have any problems with your feet such as Tailor's bunion, dropped metatarsals or have ever broken your flat feet (as I have)...these boots highlight it immediately. For the price, good sturdy boot. The width is wrong, and it is only offered in one width. The classic Iron Ranger comes in broader widths. Will be returning these and go back to my beat-down old Loakes.

Was so looking forward to wearing these great looking , well made boots. To my surprise , I received these boots in verry bad condition. Seem to have been used before and both were badly scratched on the tip of the boots. I love Amazons return policy and was able to return them with a full refund .I still rate these boots with 4 stars for there look and craftsminship.

tolle Schuhe
