A beautiful entertainment in small package
A beautiful entertainment in small package. Awesome performance with crystal clear clarity. It has everything you need. Though it is not meant for a power boosting rocker kind of speakers but it has it to some extend. The most favorite thing you are gonna like is easiness in installing such a world-class acoustic based music system. It's simply plug and and play. Sound bar is so small that it can be accommodated in a tiny space, at the same time without compromising the performance and quality. No need to lay ducts pipes rtc for the cable work unlike the other music systems does. The sub woofer is the real player of the game , it has everything ti make you please for a medium sized room. It is to be noted the that the name is "mini" so don't expect a glass braking sound with bass. But believe me guys it is the best you can get in this segment. It's quite better than sony and price wisely better than bose. It is not a wireless speaker since it has to be plugged always but the connectivity wise it works on blue tooth. I don't know much about any app oriented performance like in Bose. What I feel they could have have things better in it, is app oriented platform, lengthier cables, and bluetooth butten in remote. That's all I just love it. If you want a crystal clear music and powerful entertainment don't think too much and go for it.

More than a soundbar
I had endlessly researched on soundbars (Bose, Yamaha, JBL, Sony) and this is by far one of the best soundbars at this price range and clearly beats Bose Soundbar 300 and 500 versions (twice the price range). I would go so far that this will beat even the Bose 700 series if without a subwoofer (and that thing costs almost 1.3 lakhs). It also doubles up as a great music system with Bluetooth and Aux, and its small foot print makes it a very easy to place and forget. I have also paired with with my Echo Dot on Bluetooth and programmed my TV remote to learn the remote functions of this system, so it is very convenient. There was an issue of Echo Dot not connecting correctly with Polk (crackling sound) but I solved it by making my Echo connect to the 5 ghz band of my router instead of the 2.4 ghz - it seems it interferes with the bluetooth transmission in some devices. The bass and vocals are super clear and I like the fact that I can adjust those without bothering about multiple equaliser settings to get the right mix. Unless you are looking at earth shattering sound bars that are too loud for comfort, you should seriously give this a consideration. If you can get to a ProFx showroom (official retailers for Polk in India), try taking a demo to decide for yourself.

Good
I have been hunting for a good soundbar for quite sometime as the internal speakers in my Samsung LED conked off. I was managing with a simple multimedia speaker for sometime and felt I should go for a Soundbar. When I started searching for one Blaupunkt and Boat were my original choices as I did not want to invest more then 10 K. I also went ahead a bought boAT and found that it had a wired sub and returned it. I was eyeing Magnifi Mini for some time wasnt ready to spend 27 K on a 2.1 soundbar. Finally during the Sep 2019 Sale I found that it was available for a price of 20 K. The problem I had was JBL 2.1 bar was also available at the same price. JBL was 300 Watts and Polk was only 150 Watts (it is marked as 250 Watts in the description which is wrong). Finally after lot of debates in my head went ahead with Polk as it had ChromeCast. It arrived today (Oct 1) and set up didn't take much time. Polk provides everything you need for the setup. It comes with optical cable, HDMI cable, two sets of power cords and Aux cable. My 2012 model Samsung LED TV has HDMI ARC and Optical out and I tested both and it worked without any issues. The bluetooth also worked perfectly. Coming to Chromecast I was afraid to try that as there were lot of comments that setting up Google Home can render the system useless but I went ahead and took the risk and it worked without any issues. Not sure if Polk as addressed the issue as I couldn't find a statement from them that it is fixed. I connected the bar through LAN cable and not through wifi. Not sure if that made a difference. Few Cons with this sytem : The volume picks up only above when you crank it up to 70%. Till 70% the volume is feeble. But once you cross 70% it fills the room. The sub is great. You can actually feel the punch. The voice clarity is also great. If it only had a visual screen where you can check the soundbars features it would have been a great addition. Without that the only option is to configure it in Google Home which is a huge risk as per various threads. I am not sure how the other soundbars perform as I haven't listened to others. So I cannot compare but I am satisfied with Magnifi Mini. I am rating it only good and not great because the volume picks up only at 70% otherwise it is neat. Update after using for 3 days : It does not support DTS encoding. If you play DTS encoded sound all you will get is silence. It is kind of sad as there are lot of content out there with this encoding but we just have to live with Dolby.

Mini Monster - not a 5.1
After a month of usage ! It's my first high end speaker and I did basic research for about a week before buying it. I have always dreamt fo getting a Bose and never even knew of Polk. But when I made up my mind and did my workout , I finally settled for this piece of monster. It really is a small room friendly bomb. I can't go more than 70 percent volume though as I am not used to too loud music. But I am sure big rooms can be easily filled up. The woofer is what makes it bang for the buck. Seamlessly - wireless connectivity. I understand what they say pure sound after listening to this after having heard bose at a friend's place or chroma showrooms. It's feels like you are in the recording theatre rather than some beautified music. Anyway comparisons apart , watching your favourite series and movies with this is a all new feeling. It's works like charm even with basic VU TV and MI TV's. Note VU TV gives Dolby Digital this works better on that. If you wanna save some money check with your friends in US it's 8 K cheaper. Great product though ! Polk love ❤️

I bought this to replace a Logitech Z333 that I've had for a while. For the price they are great but I wanted better sound. This set didn't disappoint. In fact, I had to adjust to the better soundstage. I'm not used to having what is effectively a center channel. It was easy to set up, I had to get an adapter to attach to my PC's S/PDIF connector but I felt optical would be better than 3.5mm. It fits nicely under my monitor and the sound coming out of it's amazing. The sub is wireless so you can place it anywhere in the room. I've placed mine under my desk, out of the way, to the right and the boom resonates nicely. It's wierd the senses are tricked to seem like the bass is coming from the little bar since bass is omnidirectional. I'm really happy and much prefer a good name like Polk to handle my audio, not knocking Logi of course, I also have their Z906 system which is the same price but too bulky for a PC setup, I use it for my home theatre.

After 8 months of using this system - No changes to my initial review. Has worked smoothly so far. No issues with connectivity, the system has been super stable. Polk hasn't issued any firmware updates in this period, so no new features to talk about. The Polk Magnifi Max AX SR (2023) system is a great performing system that gets overshadowed by the more hyped up systems like those from Samsung, Sonos, etc. I tested this Polk system against Samsung's flagship Q990D and couldn't notice the difference when it came to Dolby 5.1 with or without Atmos. Indeed, some aspects of the Polk system were better than Samsung's. The best aspects of the Polk system are: 1. Very easy setup. No app or login to the vendor site needed. Just plug in the soundbar, connect to TV with HDMI, and plug in the subwoofer and surround speakers. It just works. You may use the Google Home app to connect the soundbar to Wifi, but that's optional. 2. Easy to use remote with a substantial text display on the soundbar visible across the room. This is as simple as it gets. You may think that the lack of an app to fiddle with a lot of features is a drawback, but the system has the right controls on the remote and the minimalist design actually works well. 3. It automatically responds to your TV remote. No programming of any kind needed. 4. Provides 3 HDMI input ports, a rarity in this price range. With the right setting on the connected devices (I have a Fire Stick connected), the soundbar automatically switches to the right input when the corresponding device is activated. The TV is also turned on automatically via the HDMI CEC. A must-have feature if you have more than one device connected to the soundbar. 5. Dolby 5.1 with or without Atmos sounds very good. The subwoofer is substantial (10 inch, another rarity in this price range), and the surround speakers, though small, are loud and make a big difference. Compared to the Samsung flagship Q990D on the same scenes, I couldn't tell any difference. The thing to note though is that the sound quality varies as per the source material. You need premium subscriptions with Netflix, Amazon, Paramount+, etc to get Dolby Atmos, and movies from Max often sound subdued compared to these other streamers. Best performance will be with Blurays presenting uncompressed multichannel sound tracks. 6. The All-Stereo mode allows you to play music on all speakers, which is a great feature. Adds life to stereo 2.0 sources. I didn't see this in the Samsung Q990D. 7. The Polk system also allows you to balance the volume between the right and left surrounds. This is a very useful feature that lets you position the surround speakers wherever there is room in your setting and just adjust the balance to suit your seating position. On the flip side, I cannot tell whether the two upfiring speakers make any difference. Not just in this Polk system, but also in the Samsung flagship, which as up and side firing speakers. The sound always seem to come from the soundbar, not magically above your head. Perhaps this depends on your setup. The surrounds do make a big difference. Overall, the Polk Magnifi Max AX SR performs well and a great value for money especially if it's on sale. It's solidly built, easy to set up and use, and makes a difference in your movie experience. There is no hype or cult behind Polk, but it performs as good as more expensive systems at less than half the price. For those curious about the power output, there is no specs available from Polk. We can only deduce this from the input power consumption. The soundbar is rated at 120W, the subwoofer at 128W, and surround speakers at 18W each. Compare this to Samsung Q990D/F. Main soundbar input power is 41W, Subwoofer: 48W and Surround speakers: 19W each.

Had a Sony system that packed up after just 2 years, all Sony Centres closed down so unrepairable, saw the Polk on Amazon and it was a good price. Arrived as stated, very easy to set up, seems well built, fantastic sound, looks great. Early days but very pleased so far.
