The Mitten: A Classic Pop-Up Folktale Hardcover – Pop up, October 10, 2014

My 3 year old niece enjoyed getting this book for Xmas. It is a cute interactive book.

Love the classic Ukrainian folktale “ The Mitten”. Any time I see a new version of it, I buy it for my collection. This version does not disappoint! It is the first time I have seen this story told in a pop up version. It is absolutely adorable! Not just because of the pop up style but the illustrations are adorable as well. I loved it so much that I purchased a few more to gift to friends for their grandchildren.

My preschoolers loved it. The pop ups were beautiful. Loved the story.

Vivenne (2 1/2) loves the mouse that pops out of the mitten twice. Beautiful binding and strong pages. She will not let me read the story, she is so excited,but the story is easily told ad lib. She loves to pull the tabs and roll the wheel.

My granddaughter LOVES this book. (She is four.) My granddaughter LOVES this book. My daughter [She is forty ;-)) ] has wisely saved it for special use, like when older sister goes to school (her school just 'opened') and she is so jealous. She sits with it for an hour and talks to the figures. Cant ask for more. Sending one to another granddaughter of the same age. Pop up books are so unique that kids of all ages love them.

This is a very charming story in its simplest form about a lost mitten and how it is used by different animals. It is also, however, about the importance for those with differences to be able to coexist in a given environment. It is a subtle lesson about our ability to live together and the importanc of it - all these different animals are snug and warm within the mitten, and are snug and warm because they share the space together. The pop ups by Yevgenniya Yeretskaya are simple but adequate to enliven the tale.

A heart-felt story and gorgeous woodland illustrations with fun to use pop-up art. The perfect gift for kids, new moms or for collectors of fairy tales and pop-up books!

Great book. Giving to great nieces for gifts inside reading pillow pals!
