A Choice Not an Echo: Updated and Expanded 50th Anniversary Edition

Required reading for anyone who still thinks Republicans are "conservative."
This book pairs well with "The Betrayal of the American Right" by Murray Rothbard, AND a side of activism. Get involved in your local chapter of the Republican Assembly, and the John Birch Society (who have been proven right many times over...which should be apparent by now, after they've been savaged, smeared, and demeaned for decades by the enemies of our Constitutional Republic).

It's like déjà vu all over again.
If not for a recent interview with Phyliss Schlafly by Breitbart I would not have known about this book - "A Choice Not an Echo" and I discovered it's 50th anniversary addition updated in 2014. Since 1936 the so-called "Masters of the Universe" had taken over the Republican Party - except they failed to stop Ronald Reagan - and if you ever stop to read any book PLEASE read this one.Mrs. Schlafly has endorsed Donald Trump and you'll really learn many things, in detail, within the pages of this book. Hard Copy or download it with a Kindle App this is absolutely must reading to share with anyone you can stop and make listen. I'm very well read but this was one heck of an education. The people in this book are now planning how to stop Trump. A Choice Not an Echo: Updated and Expanded 50th Anniversary Edition The "America Last" crowd care nothing about the United States, only about their own enrichment and power. Mrs. Schlaflly points out how elections for President have been made and how America has been altered away from a Constitutional Republic. This book explains why "We the People" is the only thing between the grassroots individual and the end of the American Dream. The Kingmakers have only gotten more powerful and more relentless in their efforts to make "America Last." It's like déjà vu all over again.

Outstanding update to a classic
An outstanding new edition to an indispensable classic for anyone who cares to know how Republican politics really works in America.I expected a great foreword from Congressman Paul, and was not disappointed, but the new material was much more than I expected--it's almost as much as the original--and just as valuable. Her insight into the origin of the 25th Amendment was a total surprise, as was the foiled plot to have a joint Reagan-Ford copresidency in 1980 convention. Her comments on the RINO presidents are hilarious. (Bush I: "Almost the only conservative thing Bush did in the four years of his presidency was to appoint Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court.")Disappointed she didn't dig into how the establishment and media worked day and night, month after month, to sabotage Ron Paul's campaigns in 2008 and 2012. (In fact, the entire 2012 nominating process was reduced to three paragraphs). But other than that, and a the clunky quote from Mike Huckabee on the back, the book can't get any better. And that includes the original classic, which named the Bilderbergers decades before the conspiracy theorists got wind of them.Cheers to Phyllis Schlafly and publisher Regnery for having Ron Paul pen the Foreword, who richly deserved it.

The Best Book Ever Written on American Politics
Phyllis Schlafly has written one of the best books on politics in America that has ever been written. At age 69 I lived through many of these political events and remember them well, but she has taught me many things I never knew. Her deep understanding of the underside of politics is incredible and impressive. Only those who have chosen to keep their eyes blinded and their minds clouded can disagree with her analysis of these political events. Her book shows that America's decent into a collectivist national mindset is not new and that the enemies of our liberty have infiltrated our government and society at all levels. While is it no longer acceptable to mention communists in our government, the evidence of extensive infiltration into the most powerful offices of every administration has been proven over an over, even by defectors from the Soviet and Chinese communist systems. Yet, every Republican administration, except for that of Ronald Reagan, played a major role in the cover-up. As dangerous as these individual were of greater danger, as she points out, are the elitists operating in the shadows who actually control our government. Buy this book, read it carefully and share it with your children, grandchildren and friends.

Informative
I'll try this again since the Amazon censors took umbrage at my previous review of this book even though I didn't use any vulgarities. As flawed as Bush 41 was when he ran for reelection, I was surprised that Schlafly didn't mention the impact Ross Perot had on the election.Schlafly does point out how treasonous and dangerous to America Henry Kissinger has been throughout his political life. The power structure that Schlafly examines in this book should help the reader understand how the coup d'etat against Trump was accomplished.

A timely re-release as conservatives battle for the life of the Republican Party
I was not alive for the original debut of Schlafly's 'A Choice Not an Echo' but the re-release of her work and the updated analysis of the battle for the Republican Party is well timed. Schlafly's original work outlined how the Establishment dictated Republican presidential nominations for over 20 years, with the Establishment's temporary demise with Goldwater's nomination in 1964 and most certainly with Reagan's nomination and election in 1980. What is most peculiar is how Schlafly identified an issue over 50 years ago that is still relevant today. The Tea Party began a movement that has morphed into a larger, overall grassroots conservative movement making its case for the return of America to individual expression, freedoms, and liberties. The current 2016 Republican nomination process is proving to be a fight the Establishment may lose again. Will America nominate and elect someone who believes in America again, or as Schlafly puts it, will we elect someone who does NOT believe in 'America Last' policies?Republicans have history to show that nominating a moderate does not work.

I'm disapointed
I thought this was about the good about the Republican's, it sounds like it is a smear campaign against them. I'm not American , but I was interested in the writer, was very disappointed that it shows the nasty of the Republican's party...the book is rather boring!
