Astrology For Beginners : Raman, Bangalore Venkata: desertcart.in: Books Review: Astrology is a pure science based on mathematical formulas.... - Astrology is a pure science which is based on mathematical formulas. If one is buying this book in the impression that he/she would learn the astrology without putting any efforts then it's not a good decision. In order to become astrologer, one has to be patient and curious enough to explore all the possibility. I started with this book to learn astrology three months back. I tried first time to read this book but failed, I started again and failed again. After going through this process for almost 3 months, I understood the basic mistake of mine. I was little impatient and not trying to understand what respected Venkata Raman sir was trying to teach. Once I started this book from fresh with the sense that astrology is a pure science and it's based on mathematical concept. So, whatever the calculation is given in this book, I've to understand it properly to proceed further, I started getting the concept. I am on Chapter-IV and would be buying additional book from same author to learn astrology in-depth. My humble opinion to those reader who are failed to understand this book, please have some patience and hold-off any negative comment against this author. If you would have read the introduction then you would be knowing that Venkata Raman Sir is revered grandson of Prof B. Suryanarain Rao, who himself was a great astrologer of their time... Thanks! Manoj Review: A valuable book for a passionate sudent - A very useful book for an astrology student who is passionate in this science.A great scholar.. BV Raman in this arena..no doubt

Not recommended for the beginner
This book may work for those who knows the basics of astrology and not for the beginners as the concepts are hard to grasp at the beginner level and lack the explanation and depth.

This is an ok book from B V Raman for ...
This is an ok book from B V Raman for people who are very new to astrology. It has short explanations of houses, signs and planets in each house. Overall, if you know all these concepts then one should read higher books.

As a beginner wanting to learn Astrology, this book provides the basics knowledge to begin learning about astrology. The only thing this book might lack is the details needed for a beginner to understand.

I find the writing is actually intended for people who already know some form of basic astrology. I am still plodding through trying to understand "Astrology for Beginners"!!!

The printing of this book is absolutely horrible. Pages 5-20 repeat twice this is not by design. The print paper is of the lowest of the lowly quality. The print on a few pages has faded. This is the twenty ninth reprint (2013) so I think nobody from UBS Publishers bothered to check if they were printing all the pages. My opinion is stay clear from the twenty ninth reprint printed by Ram Printograph, New Delhi.

I had expected this book to introduce me to Vedic Astrology: the basics, and in an understandable way for a Western astrologer. This book does not do that. In fact I am not sure what it does. It is only a few score pages, printed on cheap stock and is not organized in what I would consider a pragmatic way. I've since bought a number of Vedic books so I have a better idea now of the ideas put forth by this book and this author. They are simple enough I suppose for a beginner but only if, perhaps, that beginner is an Indian and has already grown up in a culture where such astrology is commonplace. I think it is useless for a Westerner.
