Worked for me!
So I was very skeptical to purchase this after seeing the reviews, however it was on sale and I love DeWalt products plus I like to develop opinions based on my own experiences so I bought it to give it a try, at first I when holding it outside the package I thought to myself this is so lightweight and cheap now I see what everyone was talking about. However when I tested it several times over and over it was spot on atleast 90-95% of the time! Both with studs and live wire! Not saying the folks who couldn’t get it to work don’t know what they’re doing but for me it really did work and I was very pleased with it, even tested it against a 3 in 1 more expensive finder I have and this was quicker to detect the objects and from much further away as compared to my “better” one. For the folks who can’t get it to be accurate I would not read the instructions but watch the video so you can see how to really use it, make sure your walls aren’t too thick, make sure they are actually drywall and not plaster or any other material, make sure you lay it flat on the wall and hold the middle button until the lights minus the power light go off, make sure your moving it in one direction on the wall not changing your height or position on the wall it should be slow smooth slides in one direction also not up and down and back and forth on the wall, just one clean slow uni-directional movement. Also you have to keep your hand in the same position once it’s on the wall you can’t be moving your fingers or hands at all, this will throw off the calibration, you also need to make sure your opposite hand and arm are at your side and away from the hand with the finder if you touch the wall with your other hand or even bring it near the hand your using to locate the stud it will throw off the calibration. If you do all of these steps and it’s still not working for you maybe it isn’t the best product and I lucked out. However I must say I am fully impressed by this stud finder.

You get what you pay for...not much
This tool seemed to be just the ticket as I was putting up some floating shelves and needed to anchor to at least on stud. I read the directions (err, I looked at the pictorial directions) and then I looked up a review on you tube. Geez, the guy showed exactly what should happen...of course he had a demo wall that was open at the top revealing the stud locations. Simple, easy, great! Then I tried and was completely stupefied by the lack of performance of this unit. I moved it slowly and found a stud location...cool...mark it...then drill my pilot hole...ONLY to find that there was no stud there. Ok try again. move slowly along the wall and then the electrical wire indicator starts alerting (!!????) 5 feet up from the floor and nowhere near a run for an outlet which was 2.5 feet to the left. Kept searching and finally located another stud (I thought!) marked it and drilled my pilot hole...yup, you guessed it--NO STUD there either! WTAF?!? After futzing around for 20 minutes on this 8 foot wall section I resorted to drilling small holes every inch to locate the studs (took me less time that using the "finder"!) Needless to say, I do not recommend this product...save your money, time, and frustration. BTW, my walls are standard sheetrock (5/8") with a knock-down texture coat...pretty damn ordinary.

Decent
This is useful but lacking. I thought with this brand that I would be getting something much better. I get a lot of false readings and it's having a really hard time reading through 1/2 drywall even though it is supposed to work for 3/4 inch. I like the design and the features but it's just lacking for me.

Works well
Works well. I did have a learning curve as far as how the lights identify the location of the stud. User error.

Take the cell phone out of your hand while you're using this and it works perfect
I saw the video of the man holding a cell phone recording himself as this thing did not work well I feel sorry for all of you millennials sometimes if you live life out of the cell phone and you put it down the electronics in your other hand will work perfectly fine I'm a certified journeyman electrician going on 28 years I feel real sorry for the new generation
