LECCO Book Holder Floor Stand (Hands Free Comfortable Reading) W/Wheels

This is a well built quality stand / book or iPad holder. It's quite costly, but when I noted it was built in Barcelona, Spain, I could imagine transport was a significant part of the price. The part that holds the book or other device is a plastic contraption- not the clean lines of the supporting stand- but it works. There is a little plastic lever on it which I haven't figured what it's for. Possibly locking in a Smartphone or other, but there is no mention in the instructions. For an iPad which is my use I think it's very good. I just placed a 350 page hard cover book onto the holder and it supported ok, but page turning was a bit problematic. Probably I could get used to it... So: expensive but well made and functional; I'm pleased.

Excellent quality and usability. I originally purchased a Levo Book Holder. However, I was so dissatisfied with the quality and usability that I purchased a Lecco Book Holder. The prices are about the same, and the quality and usability of the Lecco is significantly greater. Moreover, the Lecco Book Holder accomodates a standard sized iPad in both portrait and landscape mode. Both roll OK on hard surfaces but neither seem to on carpet. Update after a month and a half of use: The stand was purchased because spinal surgery was scheduled, and the original review was use prior to surgery, and the use was mostly sitting upright in a chair. I've had the surgery, I was almost supine most of the time, and the use was bedside. The combination of an adjustable wedge system from Relax the Back and the Lecco Book Holder mitigated both discomfort and boredom. Fully extending the arm of the book holder with a heavy book did tend to cant the book a bit off horizontal. A five-pound weight on the base solved the problem.

First the good - it's a quality piece, heavy base with sleek design up top to hold books in many positions. We were getting this for my 93 yo dad who reads all the time in his chair. Overall the Design is awesome however there is a FATAL FLAW - one large screw anchors the pole to the base. TWICE we have ordered and twice the threads mismatch so there is no way you can get that anchor screw in. Too bad, it could have been a great solution for us!

I’ve only had it a few days but here are my current thoughts. I have a Levo book stand that I’ve loved for years but needed another and decided to try this when I saw how low the bottom plate is. First, it was super easy to put together, absolutely anyone could do it who can lift the heavy bottom plate at least enough to tip it up. The silver blends into my room a lot better than the Levo black did. And I was right, the thin lower plate slides under my couch where the Levo one did not, allowing for much better placement, which is critical for me because of neck pain & other issues. But the tradeoff is that it it’s very hard to move and small adjustments mean manhandling the very heavy device. It only has 2 small wheels under one side of the bottom plate so for moving it long distances you tip it up and push on those. I’m quite sure it would be terrible on even very low rugs. The other issue is that the book arm doesn’t go as low as the Levo. Its bottom position is just a smidge high for me (and my bad neck & bifocals). If you’re taller than 5” you probably won’t care but measure carefully. Turning the page is much more awkward and slow than with the Levo, definitely not ideal but a worthwhile tradeoff for the placement issue for me. Also, the way books sit on the stand makes it much more awkward to write in them. The covers don’t rest against the back on either side so if you don’t brace the book when you’re underlining or writing you’re going to make a big mess. So which one you get depends on your very specific needs. Now that I have this placed perfectly by the couch I don’t need to move it at all and I’m really pleased with how that worked. But next to my bed it would suck, I need it to be on wheels that let it be easily moved out of the way. Oh, also it’s nice that this one works with both books and tablets without having to have an interchangeable arm for each. But the design of this isn’t as good as either of those Levo contraptions. Hope the info helps you make a decision! And if you have any kind of arm, hand, shoulder, back or neck pain, either one is well worth the money, you’ll wonder how you ever did without.

Been wanting one of these for a while. Expense was why I procrastinated but need finally made the decision for me. It works incredibly well. Does exactly what it is designed to do. Easy to turn pages. Very sleek and non-intrusive while being where you need it due to small footprint and versatile arm without calling attention to itself. I want a second one... Update: I used the first one daily... ended up with it semi attached to my bed's platform, but then I couldn't use it in the living room. BTW, the footplate is HEAVY, heavy enough to act as ballast for have books (or with small ingenuity, a heavy tablet). It has small rollers, but they don't work so well on tile floors with wide grout lines. So I finally ordered a second one for my living room... I have upper back and neck vertebral issues with pinched nerves, so holding a book and reading while looking down pulls me out of alignment. This stand is wonderful. I did add a tiny bungee cord to hold my tablet in place when looking up at it. But otherwise, this thing is a pain saver! It is useful. It is sleek. And I am thinking about one for the kitchen too. Then cookbooks would not take up precious counter space while cooking.

I planned to use this stand for Bible studies in my comfy chair and for reading in bed. The website of the manufacturer indicates that you can tilt the top to read in bed laying back. That is clearly not the case. First of all, the arm of the stand does not reach far enough into the bed to lay down and read. By the time you tilt the top to read down laying down,the book will fall off. Don't even try to do this with a heavy book, the stand will simply tip over before you get that far. The only way I can use the stand is sitting in the chair, leaned back, with a bunch of other books as "counterweight" on the base. That also only works if you don't extend the height of the stand to much, because the stand will bend sideways horizontal. At all times, the first pages of the book you will have a hard time to keep the page you are on because the page holder really only works when you get about the same amount of pages on both sides. I had this stand sitting in the box (gift) for some time and cannot return it anymore. I would, not recommend to buy this.

I had to return the Lecco Book Holder. In general it seemed like a very good product. However, the book that I was attempting to read, which is not very heavy, was not supported properly. The book holder part of the product leaned to one side, hence I could not read looking straight ahead. I hope to order the new model later this fall. According to the manufacturer: Currently you cannot adjust the angle of Lecco Book Holder and, under certain circumstances (depending on weight of book or how extended arm is), it may be leaning slightly. We are already working on a new version of Lecco Book Holder in which this adjustment can be made easily. Expected release: October 2016.

This book holder is the answer to all our problems! There is NOTHING complicated about it, we figured it out on about 1.5 minutes and didn't read a single word on any manual. Which we planned on consulting, just didn't need to. It was so easy to set up. It is so easy so maneuver and it has allowed my dad to once again discover his love for reading. Injured in a car accident, he can't really lift his arm, so turning pages while holding a book was something he could no longer do. He has easily read over 30 thousand books, so you could see how distraught he was. This book reader adjusts to him and holds the book firmly. A true Godsend. Couldn't be happier!
