Braun Series 5 Combi 51S Foil and Cutter Replacement Pack (Formerly 8000 360 Complete or Activator), 0.32 Ounce

I've been using my Braun 8995 for a number of years now. I purchased it initially because of the awesome, smooth shave that the Gillette-branded blades provided. After Braun switched to the new 5-Series branding the quality of the replacement heads declined quickly. I have extremely sensitive skin and a curly beard, which has become increasingly more so as I've gotten older. I used to be able to shave once a day, but over time I've had to reduce to twice a week to avoid skin irritation and ingrown hairs. The replacement 51S blocks I'd used in the past produced so much skin irritation, ingrown hairs, and tugging/snagging while I shaved that I gave up on them. I even tried out alternative blades from the 3-Series razor which actually worked better for a time, but they dulled very quickly due to the much thinner blades in the cutting block. In what I can only assume was a cost-cutting measure, I was soon unable to find those thinner-bladed 3-Series replacement blocks and stopped buying blades entirely for close to two years. I was heartened to see so many recent positive reviews of the replacement 51S replacement pack, and I noticed that they had returned to being produced in Germany, so I decided to give these blades one last try before replacing the razor entirely. I'm so glad that I did. These recent 51S blocks are a huge improvement over what they used to be. I'm treated to a sharp, fast, close cut with minimal skin irritation on my neck where I usually get ingrown hairs. The new foil style really makes a difference in making sure that even the hairs growing parallel to the skin are raised and shaved. I don't have to keep going over and over the same spot to catch all the little stragglers. My shaving time has reduced from 12-15 min down to 7-8 in most cases. I do still occasionally get a tug or a snag which is very uncomfortable. I have yet to figure out what causes this, but it doesn't happen often enough for me to consider a different razor yet. We'll see how these blades hold up over the next few months.

Well the joke is on me. I tried one of the replacement sets for my Braun Series 5. It sort of worked and it was a little difficult to remove the head to clean...obviously it was cheaper than the real head replacement. After fighting a continuous battle, I decided to get the Braun replacement head set. Low and behold, it works like a champ....clean shave, less time and no fit problems to the shaver. Lesson learned...sometimes replacement products are not as good as the original.

I only rated the longevity of the product at 3 stars (which I thought of as "average") because I've only had it two weeks and it's supposed to last 18 months. I can rate longevity better in 2025! I initially purchased the wrong replacement pack because I didn't realize Braun made more than one kind of Series 5 shaver. I made sure I got the right one this time. As for performance, the new screen and blades shave a great lot better than the ones I replaced, after far more than 18 months. And I get more shaves per battery charge because shaving takes half as long with the new parts.

I too had read many of the other reviews here that say how horrible this shaver replacement is, and I too was worried just like you probably are. I put off ordering one since I didn't want a piece of junk, I wanted a real replacement. I haven't replaced my foil and cutter in about 4 yrs (and they recommend doing it every 1.5yrs) and it was getting to where I really really needed to, even at the risk of getting what many here are calling a junk replacement. Well, since I couldn't find any others, I ordered the "Series 5, 51S" for about $30. When it came I noticed the foil head had even-sized small holes throughout, whereas the last replacement I bought (~4 yrs ago) had more of a honeycomb look to the holes. 'Oh boy' I thought, 'Maybe this will be a bad thing like so many others have said'. Nope, not a bad thing at all! It works perfectly! It is so smooth, so much quieter than what my other cutter/foil had become, it's almost as if it's a new razor altogether. I have a thick heavy beard, similar to Homer Simpson it seems I have a 5 'oclock shadow an hour after I shave. I had a 3 day beard when this arrived and I started first on my neck. It plowed through like it was a gas-powered lawnmower. I went on to my face, same thing. Beautiful! It really made it quite clear how bad my other cutter had become. Instead of 5 or 6 litle passes over the same spots, this one took care of the stubble in 1-2 passes. I use a Braun 8985, BEFORE it was branded "360 Complete", or Syncro, or any of that. Mine has no LCD display on it, just the plain Braun 8985 from, if memory serves correctly, the early 2000s...not sure if this makes a difference in fit or performance. The attached pic is exactly what mine looks like, but it's a stock image for reference. This foil cutter fits it perfectly, and works flawlessly. Honestly, I realize this sounds cliche, but I couldn't be happier. If memory serves me correctly, I paid double this for replacements in the past. Regarding the many negative reviews of this Series 5 replacement, perhaps other sellers are selling factory seconds, or perhaps there's some slight fit problems with the newer models of the 8900 series such as Activator and 360, I don't know. Fantastic product. Stay with genuine Braun. I bought an imitation and it felt like it was pulling the whiskers out of my face.

My old shaver heads were starting to pull out the hair on my face...so I got a new replacement pack. I've never got a close shave like this one. Maybe even better than a razor.

De folie dient samen met de cutter te worden besteld om een optimaal resultaat te bekomen. Een uitgesleten cutter in combinatie met een nieuwe folie past niet optimaal.
