I have several Mitutoyo micrometers. This, like all of the others I have are very good tools especially considering the price points at which they sell. The last time I compared prices Mitutoyo was still much less expensive than brands like Starett or Brown & Sharp. This micrometer with the changeable anvils gives a wide range of measurements. The trade off is changing the anvils out for the different depths that you may have to measure. A professional machinest would need to spend more to purchase tools for the different measuring ranges rather than using one with changeable parts for the sake of time. For an automotive hobbiest, even a serious one like me, this tool represents a great value.

Mitutoyo has been bringing in high quality precision hand toolsfrom Japan for many years.Their tools are excellent, and long lasting, and this depth micrometeris no exception.It is finished in hard chrome for long wear, and protection from rust andthe abrasion and corrosion that dirty hand s in the shop always bring.The markings are clear, and very black, and easy to read against thematt silver finish of the hard chrome.The spindles are easy to change, and hold their accuracy through manychanges cycles. Recalibration adjustments can be a little finicky, but mostdepth micrometers have this same issue. Included in the box are the adjustment tools.This is the standard depth micrometer in my shop, and it is preferred over all otherbrands, including American made Starrett.This was a gift to my head machinist, but I own 3 of them myself!

Nice tool, calibrated right out of the box, easy to use , love the depth mic. I knocked off a star because of the cheap plastic case it comes in.

I own Starrett, Brown & sharp, Interapid and Mitutoya and all have always been excellent with the Mitutoyo being more affordable and just as accurate..Japan (not China) makes great mics and indicators and this set is top of the line and absolutely top quality..Came well packaged with case and wrapped in protective paper..
