XP13000EH - Great Generator At A Great Price
Edit 6/19/25Strong storm cell came through our area; high winds and driving rain. Moved in and out quickly so everything seemed normal. A few hours later, power went out. Power was out 9 hours. The 1300EH fired right up and ran 8 hours on a full tank of fuel (gas). That seems to be the average time (in hours) with a nominal load.Edit 6/18/25Still running great. I usually start it by hand just to see if it starts easily and it does. 80 hours on it so far. Have not tried the propane option yet, but have tanks available if needed.I try and run the generator at least every few months (for 15 minutes or so) to ensure the fuel lines stay clear and dust off the cobwebs. Each time I add fuel, I use Stabil fuel stabilizer since its hard to tell how long it might be before the generator is used again. I also add B12 Chemtool to at least one tank of fuel a year. Follow recommendations on B12 can for ratio. The B12 also helps keep varnish and junk from clogging up the carburetor. These two fuel additives work magic when used in small equipment engines that are not run often. You will never have a start-up issue when using these additives.Edit 9/30/24Generator is running great still. Lost power at 5:40AM due to remnants of Hurricane Helene. Power companies are trying to restore power and probably had to shut off adjacent grids to make the repairs.Edit 7/23/22We recently upgraded to a 3 ton compressor & evap coil (same air handler) due to the previous 2 ton compressor dying a slow death. The 3 ton compressor uses about 1000 watts more than the 2 ton compressor. The XP13000EH can easily handle the extra load. To help with turn-on surge, I turn the air handler fan from AUTO to ON, this way the air handler is already running and when the thermostat calls for AC, only the compressor will need the surge current to get up and running in that split second. With both HVAC units running the load is about 6000 watts, so I have approximately 4500 watts to run the rest of the house, which is more than sufficient to be comfortable when the power is out.As far as sensitive electronics, the only issue I have had is with a UPS (back-up power supply), but other than that, the 13000EH runs everything just fine, no issues. Desktop & laptops use a switching power supply, so those kinds of supplies don't need a perfect sine wave to operate. My old school air handler (regular squirrel cage motor)runs fine of the 13000EH too.End of edits.Original Review:We bought this generator based on other reviews and it has been dependable and powerful. One item that I wish they would address possibly in future models or a change is the muffler; it is a bit loud, but other than that, the generator is awesome. We live in north central North Carolina where power is fairly reliable, but has gone out periodically more than I thought it would and purchased the 13000EH as a whole house generator. The 13000EH is connected thru a 60 amp transfer switch and runs the following with ease:Two 2-ton HVAC heat pump units with gas furnace assist1000 watt microwave ovenStandard size fridgeTwo chest freezersHome office and networking equipment (computers, printer, etc)TV, Dish receiver, audio equipmentVarious LED lighting and ceiling fansTwo bedrooms (lights and receptacles)Although some reviews have stated that the THD of this generator (this series in general) is higher than some other more expensive brands, we have not had any issues with our computers or other electronics being run off of the 13000EH.The generator has about 50 hours on it. It easily pull starts even though it has an electric starter too. Very happy with it’s performance so far. I have only run it on gasoline so far, not propane, but do have propane tanks as a secondary fuel source.

Well made and great value
What a great generator. The electric start is amazing. My neighbor has the same one and was able to run most of his house on during a week of no power. I bought this because of his satisfaction with it. So far I am very satisfied. Their customer support is great. You get through right away and are NOT sent to any foreign call center. They have the authority and expertise to handle any issues and resolved mine in a matter of seconds. They also made you feel comfortable to call back if needed on any other questions or concerns . It rolls well on the wheels even considering the weight. It was easy to buy and await the delivery with Amazon. I have not put a heavy load on it yet since I am finishing up the break in period.

Even after sitting for long periods of time, it works every time.
Bought this generator in June 2021. I have used this only with the PROPANE setting. We have used it, 15 hours at most. It’s awesome! With how little we use it I am very skeptical when I go to use it. It works every time with one push of the button. We have a quick connect hose for our grill so it is easy to use on the generator after I added a female quick connect. I connect it to our house and get all the essentials back on: fridges, freezers, water, WiFi, etc. not the whole house but it definitely helps things.

Like it, but a few issues to look for.
Two issues that stop me from giving it 5 stars. One is that is does not come with any oil. That is pretty cheap when your paying a grand plus for a unit. The second is that the sticker and instructions are backwards for the choke settings. Luckily, I was able to figure this out before it was a big issue of not starting. I charged the battery to make sure I had full battery power before starting. I added 1 qt of conventional small engine 30w oil. It says it takes 1.2 qts, but 1 qt filled it full. I believe they say a small amount of oil is in it for testing. The positives are that it started up right up with the electric start. No chock was needed. I thought the chock was on, according to the instructions and sticker. When I moved it to the right to take it off the choke it wanted to stall. So I wondered what was up and removed the air cleaner, only to find that moving it to the right closes the butterfly valve. The opposite of what the manual says! Pretty sloppy in my view. It is running as I write this for the 6 hour break-in period and is running fine. A bit noisier than I was hoping for, but no louder than my 20 year old Wheel Horse. Another gripe, Amazon said it would be delivered in two days and the website said it would be delivered on Sunday. However late Sunday afternoon it said it was delayed but didn't give any information. So I wasted a whole day waiting for it to come. The next morning I got a message saying it was going to be delivered and it was on a very large Amazon truck. Good thing I am retired, otherwise I would have more upset with the delayed delivery. I checked all the outlets with a multi-meter and the voltage seems to be good in all the outlets. So far, I am happy with the purchase. Build quality seems to be good and assembly wasn't too bad. The test will be when the power goes out and have to fire it up after sitting for a period of time. I will put "ethanol shield" fuel stabilizer in the tank to extend the life of the gasoline. Once I get it broken in, I will try running it on propane just to make sure that also works.
