Tite Seal PLST325 Self Adhesive Double Sided Butyl Pond Seam Tape, 3" by 25'

This stuff works great for my pond installation! I'm building a 30ft long pond and waterfall "wall," all lined with rocks, and I've had to make a number of seams with the expensive 45 mil. rubber liner. I've done seams large and small and have used an entire roll and ordered another one. I'm not really happy that I paid $38 for the same product from another seller here on Amazon, because this one is 10-bucks less -- $28-and-change and free Prime shipping. However, the product is great.This is not tape really -- it's a rolled band of very sticky rubber-like substance, between waxed paper. The "tape" itself is VERY sticky! You could cut off the piece you need with a razor knife -- but then, you could also press too hard and cut another layer as well. I prefer to use scissors. However the stuff is so sticky, it adheres like glue to the scissor blades themselves and drags off a long strand of "glue" that will probably go to waste. I lost a couple of pieces of seam tape before I created a solution. You could use any oil, but I got a can of WD-40, sprayed a little on a paper towel, and wiped the scissor blades. I cuts without sticking for about 4 or 5 cuts, then started clinging again. Solution: wipe the scissors with the lubrication every 3 cuts.You could use fish-safe silicone (the pond supply companies sell tubes of it). In fact, you can use any 100% silicone as it dries "fish safe." The advantage of the tape is that it sticks instantly, while glue and rubber "paint" have to set up. I've cut pieces to cover a rubber gasket I made from a bit of spare liner, to cover a small tear around a hole for a bulkhead fitting. I fitted it and pressed it down (I don't have a roller, but thumb pressure and a little time do the trick), and it's there for good. By the way, before you do anything like these, including a long seam, make sure the two sides of liner to be glued together are squeaky clean. If dusty, wipe with a water-dampened paper towel first and allow to dry. Then you can use gasoline (or oil-free solvents like paint thinner) on a rag to wipe the liner pieces that will be joined (as the directions state).I've also used the seam tape to permanently affix the EPDM rubber liner to the top and sides of the skimmer box and waterfall "tub". The big advantage over glue is that the "tape" sticks instantly, so the liner stays where you want it while you attach the plastic plate and screws (as skimmers and waterfalls require).I think everyone with a pond should keep a roll of this on hand. Works great.Recommended!

The only thing I will say bad about this product is I wish it was a little bit thicker. As for performance, It did a great job. I really don't expect for it to leak.

The idea of joining pond liners sounds easy enough but let me tell you I wish I'd simply saved up enough money to buy one liner to fit my pond. That said, I'm poor and the liner would have cost me around 1k. But, I would not now be dealing with leaks where MY work was less than satisfactory. The liners will not always lay completely flat, and then even though you think you've got it, come back the next day and there's a tiny gap. I'm going to "Southern engineer" my problem and fill those gaps with silicone and lay heavy, flat stones on top and hope if there are still leaks, they are minimal. JUST BUY THE RIGHT SIZED POND LINER.

The media could not be loaded. It works! It works. We used this tape to connect two pieces of liner and so far (three+ weeks later) we aren't seeing any leaks. The tape is very strong and very sticky. Have someone help you tape the liner together- it is not a one person job.I recommend taping the liner on a hard, flat surface. Don't make the same mistake we did, and tape it together after you have already laid it down. Our surface was rocky and we had to do some crazy yoga poses to tape it in place. If I could do it again, I would have measured my area and taped the liner together on my driveway or in my garage.We were worried about the weather not being warm enough, so got out our blow dryer and warmed it up a little. I am not sure if this helped or not, but it eased our minds. We waited 2+ days before adding water, just to be careful.If you look at the last picture, you can see the seam in the liner.

I like how it was black & seamless for taping the overlapping folds in my pond liner. When I had a hole in the liner that was leaking out I used it along with my heat gun to warm it up and weld it together but it did not hold up. Seems safe on my koi fish as they are not affected by it.

Going on 3 weeks and still sealing holes coyote tore open

This product worked amazingly well. We had an existing pond we built 4 years ago and wanted to expand it out by an additional 20ft x 20ft. We cleaned the old liner with rubbing alcohol and joined the new one to the old using this product. It was a bit of a pain to get them to join smoothly together but it worked great. The product has held up well, we don't have any leaks at all and we have extra left for patching holes. A word of warning though, it is extremely sticky so you get one shot to get it to layout nicely. Take your time and clean the liner well, get it smooth and put a 2x6 or something smooth under it so you can seam it well.

We installed the tape onto pond liner assuming it would work and after a day of running, our resevoir went dry due to a leak at the seam secured with this tape. We were so upset! They say just to apply to clean surface but Ive read where people use spray on adhesive first to get it to stick properly. Ill never trust this seam tape again.
