Great little tablet. Perfect for a kid/teenager
I bought this device for my 10 year old. Its really a great size. It's not so bulky as a larger tablet making it easier for small hands. And the costs is cheap enough that if something should happen to it it would be less painful. It does everything they need in a tablet. The display is great - maybe not as sharp as the higher end galaxy series devices but definitely not a bad display. We love the compact size. It easily fits in a purse. I also like that it easily fits in the seat pockets in the minivan without being too bulky. I am very happy with the purchase. I am a fan of Samsung devices period!

Excellent! Tremendous value
Excellent! Tremendous value! We're an Apple family and were skeptical about trying a non-IOS product but we're glad we did. The Galaxy does virtually everything our iPad does at about 1/7 the cost. It's noticeably faster than our old iPad 2 and it keeps pace with our iPhone 6+. And best of all, the Google Store apps are as good or better than the equivalent IOS apps (this seems, at least to us, to particularly be true for Google apps such as Inbox, GMail, Chrome, Sheets, Drive). The only negatives for us are minor - no easy way to use emoticons, Settings could provide more ability to customize apps. For $79, the Galaxy Tab Lite 3 is a real bargain!

If your needs are "Light," or first tablet, this will do fine
For starters, this is a "Light" tablet, not having a full range of features that a moderate or high end tablet would have. But then there's the price.Having had a tablet that had features akin to a moderate level tablet - HDMI output, for example - but whose battery now takes days to charge after about 3 years use, I knew which features I really used a lot, and which were quite optional."Light" made better sense since I'm a very casual user with a particular range of not-very-demanding expectations, lightweight games, e-reader, email, Facebook, basic office-type programs, and some other convenience apps. I shouldn't spend over $100 if that's all I'm going to utilize it.The battery is adequate; charges quickly and also discharges rather quickly. It sometimes knocks me out of apps for no apparent reason, and I've had to use its Restart feature to get good operability back after extended use, but those are pretty minor issues. It's just fine for this lazy old booger in the recliner who is done with most of the day's office work, wraps up a few things, and plays a game, checks the scores, and then takes his e-reader to bed after setting the alarm to wake him up for another day in paradise.

good so far, but make sure you don't press buttons accidentally
I was about to send this tablet back as defective because, nearly every day, it would spontaneously and repeatedly reboot itself and the volume would automatically drop to zero. It was essentially unusable. Then, I noticed that the way it was sitting in my tablet stand, the power and volume buttons were at the bottom, and the weight of the tablet may have been causing the buttons to be pressed unintentionally. I've since flipped the tablet around and have no longer had the auto-reboot and sound disappearing problems. The tablet now works great. The only slight disappointment I've found with this tablet is that, as mentioned by other reviewers, it does not have support for USB OTG. So, I was unable to use an external USB keyboard that I plugged in. I did, however, successfully pair and use a Jelly Comb Universal Bluetooth Keyboard Ultra Slim with this tablet. Considering that this external keyboard cost less than $15 including shipping, I don't mind not being able to use the USB keyboard.Overall, I'm very happy with this tablet.

100x better than a Fire
I returned two Kindle Fires (2105 type) and got two of these instead. These are great. Better built, and easier to use. No Amazon payware and money draining Freetime. The Tab 3 uses Android and it has a kid mode on it, or simply lock out what you don't want the kids to get into. It is simple, and you can plug it into a computer and transfer music, videos, pictures, and whatever else. The Fire can't even play your transferred over music without downloading a third party music app. Samsung hasn't let me down yet.

Love it (:
Tablet overall works well. When I first got it I plugged it in, turned it on, and when it kept updating. Like probably four times before I was like, "okay something is wrong." I googled it real quick and it was because for some reason it can't update (at least the inital update) while plugged in. Also, I have a galaxy phone too so I was using that charger for the tablet and the tablet kept dying really fast without even being used so I googled that too, and sure enough it was because I wasn't using the charger it came with even though they were the same.Long story short, I love it. Buy a good case. I'm not sure what's so "lite" about it, this is my first tablet and I can't think if anything that it's missing, besides a front facing camera, so no snapchat.

My first issue was that finding a case for it was literally like a needle in a haystack situation
I purchased this to have a spare tablet to take on trips with me. My first issue was that finding a case for it was literally like a needle in a haystack situation. I went through 2 cases before finding one that would work. From there I discovered I needed extra storage, and ended up going to three electronics stores before finally finding something at the Mircosoft store that would work. Fast forward to one year and one week after buying the tablet. I'd used it maybe a total of 15 hours. Maybe. It had been sitting on my bookshelf gathering dust until I pulled it out to get it ready for our next trip. And you guessed it, it's dead. I plug it in for a couple days. Nothing. I research that maybe opening it up and re-setting the battery will work. I spend $10 to buy prying tools.Nope. It's dead. I spent over $100 on a piece of gosa. Never again.
