Q: How many fans are included and what sizes are they?

Case comes with 2 140 mm fans,one mounted in front,one mounted in rear. I moved the one from rear to front, use 120mm radiator in rear w/120 mm fan and added another 120 mm fan in bottom between psu and hdd rack, running nice and cool with amd 9370 and gtx 970.and quiet!

Q: how many 5.25 inch and 2.5 inch dvd/bd or card reader drive slots are in the front?

There are two 5.25 inch bays but you'll need an adapter If you want to use one for a 2.5.

Q: Do I need any particular tools to build a PC with this case?

At most a phillips screwdriver. This is the best designed case I think I've ever had. 100% modular. You can place the PS on all four corners (top and bottom). Both side panels come off easily and the off side has places to mount multiple SSDs so they are away from the heat, and a place to easily run the power cables. Al six sides can host multiple fans up to 140mm in size. Tons of room.
