Why does it take so long to recharge?

Mine takes ages, so I keep it on for a top-up as although the battery may not show need of recharge, you'll find that it becomes slower over the days. I assumed it took longer to charge because it needed to take in the charge slowly (like a car battery), although it was only an assumption.

The toothbrush does not use a standard 3 pronged power head. Instead it is two pronged. Have I been sent an incorrect model (perhaps EU version).?

All electric toothbrushes are fitted with 2-pin plugs, intended to be fitted in bathroom sockets. You can purchase a "shaver adaptor plug" so that you charge it in a 3-pin mains socket

can you use other cheaper toothbrush heads

Apparently the expensive 'heads have rounded end bristles which are less abrasive, while the cheaper ones are cut flat across to save costs, so will be more 'scratchy' - I love a bargain but my teeth are already in a depressingly bad way, I think I'll have to bite the bullet & cough up full price :/

I am afraid that you cannot replace the batteries. That kind of battery can be recharged only so many times although they should last for many years before beginning to not hold their charge. If yours is fairly new then it must be faulty. If it is old I suggest you buy a new one - the new ones are much more efficient than the older ones and will make your teeth feel better.
